ScreenCasted blog on scrapbooking

Today my blog is based around my very first screencast video. With the technology of screencast I am able to walk you step by step through the process of making my scrapbook blog uploaded for you. I am going to show you how I prepare, and create my scrap-pages. Narrate in detail while I upload my scrapbook images and conduct and post my blog.

Here are some pictures of me prepping my scrap page with a mess of baby themed scrapbook supplies. I lay every picture out with the frames I plan to use and then coordinate them accordingly. Then I crop and trim my pictures to the shapes and sizes I want them. After cropping my pictures, I create my layout. I chose a purple and green theme for these pages of my son.

Here is my final display of my scrap pages. Notice how the pictures are all the same outfit theme. I chose the pastel color theme for my sons scrapbook pages. I did three pages to show you a variety of ideas.

Thank you for showing interest in my page. Unfortunately I am almost finished with this semester of my college Web 2.0 course. Yes, that means this is my final blog on scrapbooking. I have really enjoyed sharing my work and ideas with you. Hope I have shared some new ideas to inspire you to create your own scrapbooking masterpiece.

My book report on Social Media Commerce for Dummies

I recently read “Social Media Commerce for Dummies” book for my Web 2.0 class assignment. Social networking and commerce has a major role in web 2.0 since Web 2.0 is social media based. The whole book explains how to market your company or product, manage your marketing and social networking along. The principle of this book is that word of mouth has played a huge role on success and publicity of any product or business since the 1700’s. In order to be successful you have to build a good relationship with customers. In order to get customers you must branch out through social networking. It teaches you how to attract customers to checking out your website, follow/friend/fan your social networking, helps you manage your accounts, provides tools and websites that are useful and an asset to your companies revenues. My opinion after reading Social Media Commerce for Dummies was very educational, riveting and detrimental. It covered how make an account with twitter, Blogger, make a facebook page, Linked In and so much more. How to list your company on the top business directory sites such as Google+, MerchantCircle, Pinterest, and Zagot how to get your company engaged in sites that review and recommend your service such as, Angies List, Foursquare and Yelp,. I loved how the book expanded my marketing avenues with different approaches. I found this book incredibly helpful on many aspects. When you make a Facebook page you can get customers to interact with you by having promotions, sweepstakes and posting your deals. That goes with making Tweets, using Pinterest and Foursquare as well. It enlightens you best ways how to design and format your website for customers to engage. This book introduces you to Podcasting and posting videos to youtube.com as well. When your company has been seeing a lot of publicity you can use websites to manage Wibiya.com, Linked Media Group (links social media) and justunfollow.com, untweeps.com, knowyourfollowers.com, trust.edelman.com For finding out statistical data it provides websites such as Wolframalpha.com, SearchEngineLand.com, Zillow.com (computational knowledge engine) Insights, google.com/analytics, waybackmachine.org, emarketer.com, , and STELLA Services (measures online customer service). I think this book was written for small business owners interested in learning about publicizing their company or product with social networking. Individual’s who lack in knowledge and or experience in marketing and advertisement. Even if you are not that computer savvy, you should hire somebody to help you. Economically it’s an investment in the long run. Studies show that in a month over 7 billion visit Facebook.com, Twitter has 182.2 million, Google + has 150 million active users, LinkedIn has 98 million visits, 54 million visit Yelp, and Foursquare has 3 million check ins per day. With all that internet traffic you are guaranteed to have your company seen if you let this book guide you. I accessed my book on safari through CSN’s link on their website. Written by: Rhiannon R. scrapbook kits

Today I am going to discuss the paper scrapbook kits… You can purchase kits at various stores such as Michaels, Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart and scrapbook stores. They usually have a theme to the kit. Some examples are baby theme, bright colors, earth tones or girly theme. I like these only for the reason if you don’t have the time, patience or creativity to mix and match all your scrap materials in to a theme. I personally love to be creative and have my scrapbooks uniquely custom made by me. But I have used kits before here is an example. I had purchased a baby scrap book kits. It came with the designed paper of baby theme, borders that coordinated with the backgrounds, and had embellishment stickers and sayings to tie the page up with. It is perfect if you want to get the pictures put up and tasteful to the eye and does not take up much of your time.

Paper Scrapbooking

Today I am basing my blog on its original topic... Finally I get to demonstrate how to make old school paper scrapbooks. Show you how to base your background and color scheme off of the pictures you are using. I also am going to point out some of the mistakes I made, to show you scrapbook violations. This is my third scrapbook I ever created. As you can see my son was still a baby. The first five pages are my greatest scrapbook creations. The first page based off the soft background scene of the pictures I chose the grey back material with a dark grey plaid semi border embellishment. I went to the craft store and got stickers that had family sayings and quotes. I also bought very elegant alphabet letters to accent my theme I was aiming for. I added "A mother’s love" and "Mama's Boy" stickers since two of the three pictures are of my son and I. On page two I love the back material I had chosen for the picture; one has a texture of a mix between the veins in a leaf and fiber glass. The one in the diamond position has a polished wood appearance. I used two sayings that matched from the same sticker pack as before, I also chose 3d stickers to give my page definition. On page three I placed a semi frame to place stickers on as my page title that matched the two frames I placed around my pictures. I feel now that I should have made both borders the same shape. Scrapbook mistake number two would be that the rounded border is not color coordinated with the rest of the page correctly. On page four due to the outcome appearing so warm and inviting I have to day this is by far one of my favorites. I had chosen purple, teal with some baby blue as my theme for the picture frame borders. I topped the picture of with some sweet sayings, pictures of clouds and a stuffed animal bear On page five I chose a back semi frame of tan under a darker brown semi frame for the page title bar with stickers stating 'I love Lil Joey" next to the gold and brown picture frame I put around my sons picture. Page six through eleven is all great looking pages with their own individual Christmas theme. My mistake number three, is on the inside of each page where I tried narrating each scrapbook page in my handwriting. I admit that that almost ruined the whole book. I hope you got the concept of paper scrapbooking. I hope I have inspired you to try scrapbooking whether it is paper or digital that sparks your interest. Both are a great way to relax or spend quality time with your children.

more fun with digital scrapbooking

I finally found a website that will let me add my own touches to my digital scrapbook. I am extremely excited to start scrapping! I stumbled upon this site while I was looking for video scrapbooking for a comment I received on my last blog. To find this software you got to go to http://www.serif.com/free-video-editing-software/ which links you to this website www.daisytrail.com. After watching the tutorial video of how realistic this software is to paper scrapbooking, it was a must that I try it out. I cannot believe how much downloading this software requires. The software is called Serif Craft Artist. Today I am going to make a scrap book of Fourth of July with my son last year as my theme. For my cover page I pick the most defining pictures to be the mascots of my scrapbook theme. On each page I pick my layout and my background. Let me say they have an array of different theme choices; I had different 4th of July theme packets, to choose from. Unfortunately out of four packets, only two were free. Then I pick the pictures and embellishments for each page, type in text and crop, size, align and layer everything into place.
