I recently read “Social Media Commerce for Dummies” book for my Web 2.0 class assignment. Social networking and commerce has a major role in web 2.0 since Web 2.0 is social media based. The whole book explains how to market your company or product, manage your marketing and social networking along. The principle of this book is that word of mouth has played a huge role on success and publicity of any product or business since the 1700’s. In order to be successful you have to build a good relationship with customers. In order to get customers you must branch out through social networking. It teaches you how to attract customers to checking out your website, follow/friend/fan your social networking, helps you manage your accounts, provides tools and websites that are useful and an asset to your companies revenues.
My opinion after reading Social Media Commerce for Dummies was very educational, riveting and detrimental. It covered how make an account with twitter, Blogger, make a facebook page, Linked In and so much more. How to list your company on the top business directory sites such as Google+, MerchantCircle, Pinterest, and Zagot how to get your company engaged in sites that review and recommend your service such as, Angies List, Foursquare and Yelp,. I loved how the book expanded my marketing avenues with different approaches.
I found this book incredibly helpful on many aspects. When you make a Facebook page you can get customers to interact with you by having promotions, sweepstakes and posting your deals. That goes with making Tweets, using Pinterest and Foursquare as well. It enlightens you best ways how to design and format your website for customers to engage. This book introduces you to Podcasting and posting videos to youtube.com as well. When your company has been seeing a lot of publicity you can use websites to manage Wibiya.com, Linked Media Group (links social media) and justunfollow.com, untweeps.com, knowyourfollowers.com, trust.edelman.com
For finding out statistical data it provides websites such as Wolframalpha.com, SearchEngineLand.com, Zillow.com (computational knowledge engine) Insights, google.com/analytics, waybackmachine.org, emarketer.com, , and STELLA Services (measures online customer service).
I think this book was written for small business owners interested in learning about publicizing their company or product with social networking. Individual’s who lack in knowledge and or experience in marketing and advertisement. Even if you are not that computer savvy, you should hire somebody to help you. Economically it’s an investment in the long run. Studies show that in a month over 7 billion visit Facebook.com, Twitter has 182.2 million, Google + has 150 million active users, LinkedIn has 98 million visits, 54 million visit Yelp, and Foursquare has 3 million check ins per day. With all that internet traffic you are guaranteed to have your company seen if you let this book guide you.
I accessed my book on safari through CSN’s link on their website.
